What Does It Mean for a Person to Change?
Before asking how people change—or why some changes last while others disappear—we must first answer a simpler but surprisingly elusive question: what, exactly, counts as human change? This essay establishes the conceptual foundation upon which the rest of the Library is built.
It assumes nothing — no earlier reading, no vocabulary, no background. Everything else in the Library is written on the far side of it.
